Roadtrip 2018 Fall: Vancouver - Yakima - Bend - Carson City - Lone Pine - Palm Desert - Sedona - Palm Desert - Paso Robles - Calistoga - Brookings - Yachats - Cannon Beach - Vancouver

Day 17 - Crescent Moon Ranch

The impenetrable bamboo forest at the centre of Crescent Moon. It is thought the infamous Sedona Werewolf prowls these stalks.

Oak Creek has been up to some serious undercutting along her banks.

A rare sighting of the Gigantic Oak Newt. These creatures only come out of the mud at new moon, and only for 6 minutes to breathe. That breath must last until the next new moon.

For some reason, tourists are always milling in confusion around this spot. They are called here by unknown forces for unknown reasons. We think it's caused by a confluence of opposing vortexes.

Ellie is extremely skeptical of my vortex theories.

There's at least one in every forest.

We have confirmed - Fall is definitely upon us.

In fact many trees have already shed most of their coverings.

Vortex action results in tiny swirls of anti-gravity, allowing rocks to form little towers. Apparently, someone has blurry film of this happening.

The winds are up today - and the temperature has dropped - but the conditions yield gorgeous dapply light.

Vortex action results in a temporary gravitational lensing effect, distorting space and time.

The vortexes really start to hum near the sunset hour. They like to pick up the fallen leaves and have themselves a good old fashioned play time.

At sunset, all is calm.
